Starbucks, Arlington Center. The book is The Financial Lives of the Poets by Jess Walker. Come even if you don't have a chance to read the book, and bring suggestions for the next month's book. Drumlin Farm
Drumlin Farm Wildlife Sanctuary, 208 South Great Road, Lincoln, MA. Come explore Drumlin Farm and visit the animals in the farmyard. The Farm will have a demonstration at 10:00 that we can join (maybe petting the chickens; maybe something else) and a hayride at 10:30. Cost is free for Mass Audubon members (which is just $29 if you join now) or for non-Mass Audubon members, $4 per child and $6 per adult with AFC picking up the cost of the hayride. Kim at (617) 905-4262 or outings@arlingtonfamilyconnection.org
Father's Day Craft
Fox Library, Fox Community Room, 175 Massachusetts Avenue, Arlington. Father's Day is June 20th. Let AFC help you check one thing off your to-do list. Come make a very manly beaded keychain for Dad/Grandpa/Uncle Jerry and a homemade card. There will be large beads, so this craft is best suited for the 2+ crowd. Cost is $2 per child. Karen at (781) 643-0773 or outings@arlingtonfamilyconnection.org
Working Moms' Group
Isis Maternity, 387 Massachusetts Avenue, Arlington Center. Meets the 3rd Wednesday of the month. Over 40% of AFC moms are juggling both careers and families. Get together with other working moms -- new and experienced! RSVP to workingmoms@arlingtonfamilyconnection.org
AFC Hiking Group
West Farm, Lexington; Oak Street entrance. We will hike West Farm, part of the Lexington Conservation Lands overlooking Wilson Farms. To get there, take Massachusetts Ave. to Oak Street in Lexington. The hike will be about 35-40 minutes (bring a snack and water). Dress appropriately for the expected weather. Free. Courtney (617) 671-9245 or outings@arlingtonfamilyconnection.org
Strawberry Picking at Verrill Farm
Verrill Farm, 11 Wheeler Road, Concord, MA. Come pick fresh, local strawberries at Verrill Farm; a family farm since 1922. While the price of strawberries has not yet been determined for this year, last year it was $2.75 per pound. Julie at (781) 316 8554 or outings@arlingtonfamilyconnection.org
Outing to the Arlington Reservoir
Arlington Reservoir, Lowell Street, Arlington Heights. Come join us and play at Res and celebrate summer 2010! Reservoir Beach includes a filtered/chlorinated swimming area, bathhouse, vending machines and playground. The beach is supervised by certified lifeguards and other beach staff during its hours of operation. If you don't already have a season pass, be sure to take advantage of AFC's discounted day passes to the Res (see page 1 for more details). Look for Kim - she'll be with her 18-month old daughter, who will be sporting a purple sun hat and perhaps eating a snack on a pink and white striped towel. Contact Kim at (617) 905-4262 or outings@arlingtonfamilyconnection.org with any questions.
