RESOURCES - Music for Children (favorites of members)

Suggested by AFC members during the December, 2002 "Members Night at the Fox".

  • Beatles Songs for Kids -"All You Need is Love" - classic Beatles sung by talented children
  • The Best of Schoolhouse Rock -you remember! I’m Just a Bill and Interplanet Janet teaching with nostalgia
  • Tom Chapin - "Mother Earth" - we love the Good Garbage song about recycling
  • Burl Ives - "The Best of Burl Ives for Boys and Girls" - Big Rock Candy Mountain and other smooth-voiced classics
  • Kindermusik - "Milk and Cookies" - short and catchy songs, some with evident educational content, from the well-known music class for children
  • John Langstaff - "The Jackfish" - by the founder of "The Christmas Revels"; a full-bodied voice and a classic collection
  • Taj Mahal - "Shakin’ a Tail Feather" - funky versions of Rockin’ Robin and The Name Game
  • Music Together - "Flutes" - any collection from this well-known music class for children is worth having
  • Nick at Night - "A Classic Cartoon Christmas" - seriously wonderful nostalgia like The Who Song from Grinch
  • David Polansky - "A-Z Animal Alphabet Songs" - very clever songs for children sung in a variety of sophisticated musical styles - jazz, blues, even torch song!
  • Putamayo - "World Playground" - we especially love Bongo Bong - infectious fun!
  • Smithsonian Folkways - "Children’s Music Collection" - fun car songs with great sing-along noises
  • Til Their Eyes Shine - "The Lullaby Album" - super-soothing well-known female voices from Gloria Estefan to Roseanne Cash
  • Dan Zanes & Friends - "Night Time" - sophisticated yet easy-going and calming
