MLK weekend had such great snow for monday that it inspired me to write up a quick post while I work more on the AFC website's childcare guide. (We're looking for more volunteers if you'd like to pitch in to help!)
Sledding Spots
Robbins Farm Park, Arlington - good for a wide range of ages, and also some gentle hills for the younger crowd if you're willing to walk further into the park away from the parking on Eastern Ave. It can get very busy, so if you are looking for something much more low key, I don't recommend this park especially midday. If you are looking to pretend to take your toddler skiing (or if you have a thrill seeking toddler), many of these hills will also fit this need if you also have an older child.
McClennen Park - There's a small parking lot and the hill is towards the center. This is also a popular spot for sledding of all ages and there are no posts or obstacles around the hill (aside from dodging other sleds and people).
North Union Park - This spot near Thompson elementary school has a slope from the street into the field. Not as popular as the other two parks and a shorter sledding length.
Spy Pond Field - A less popular sledding spot, though it can be tricky to park around here (especially if classes are running at the arlington boys and girls club). The top of the hill is on Lombard Terrace, and it has a shorter hill so suitable for younger kids.
Really, anywhere with a gentle hill is a good place to start with your littles! I hope you made it out today to enjoy the snow.
